From a young age, Lauren's passions included reading and writing! She writes fiction, and books in her field. She is a member of SCBWI and enjoys crafting picture books, middle grade, young adult novels, and even adult novels. Lauren always has a work in progress, an idea brewing, courage for tough revisions, and a host of characters milling about waiting for their stories to be told. Lauren’s books include themes of courage, flexible thinking, friendship, social emotional learning, foster care, seeing your strengths, sensory issues, and emotion regulation.
Lauren is the author of the Rosie the dragon and Charlie picture book series (Illustrated by Nate Wragg/Two Lions) and HOME FOR A WHILE (Illustrated by Natalia Moore/Magination Press). REMEMBERING SUNDAYS WITH GRANDPA (Illustrated by Nanette Regan/Beaming Books) is expected Fall 2023. Another soon-to-be announced nonfiction picture book will be out in 2025.
Lauren is also the author of a children's picture book entitled, A Week of Switching, Shifting and Stretching my Thoughts: How to Make my Thinking More Flexible so I Can Have Fun, and My Sensory Book: Working Together to Explore Sensory Issues and the Big Feelings They Can Cause: A Workbook for Parents, Professionals, and Children. Lauren authored a textbook about Autism Spectrum Disorders which is available as an on-line course through Western Schools Publishing.
In addition to a passion for reading and writing, Lauren continues to enjoy her career as a mental health clinician. She is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Lauren is a nationally recognized speaker.
Lauren loves stretching her creative brain with StoryStorm, ReFoReMo, 12x12, NaPiBoWriWee, #FireButtChallenges, and conferences. Lauren is a judge with Rate Your Story, and runs her own editorial business. She also provides ghost writing services. Lauren She is one of the founders of #ReVISIONweek, which takes place in September each year. She is also a member of the Picture Book Scribblers.
Lauren currently lives in Colorado with her husband, their two dragons...er, daughters, and her rescue dogs, Hudson and Duke. She is represented by Deborah Warren with East/West Literary Agency.
Lauren's writing goals are simple: Read voraciously. Embrace feedback. Grow each day. Work hard. Be passionate. Write courageously. Touch children's hearts.
